Inclusivity and the media are the main topics on the afternoon of 13 September at the IAKS Pools Conference in Newcastle (UK)

Inclusive design for all target groups is growing in importance: HCMA Managing Principal Darryl Condon will be giving us insight into the Canadian perspective. To name just three of the key projects he has worked on: Complexe Aquatique de Laval (Québec), Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre (British Columbia) and West Vancouver Aquatic Centre and Community Centre (British Columbia). He says: “Good architecture builds community in many ways but central to this is providing the context for positive social engagement. The capacity of our communities to face the challenges of the future depends upon this.”

How is a media-savvy generation changing the leisure experience? Marc Riemann is in charge of pool operations and fully authorised officer of KölnBäder GmbH, the municipal provider in Cologne that operates twelve pools and the Lentpark combined indoor swimming pool and ice sports hall. He will be outlining the technical and media-related challenges facing a pool operator wishing to offer users forward-looking sports and leisure opportunities.
